Is a Lateral Flow Test Accurate?

The Abbot Panbio^TM test is 98.1% sensitive and 99.5% specific. In another article we have explained how even small inaccuracies can be problematic when conditions are less common. The PCR test remains the gold standard in Hong Kong. Rapid tests have been shown to be more accurate with higher viral load and many public health doctors argue that they are a better measure of infectiousness than PCR tests which can remain positive for significantly longer than an individual is infectious.
