What Is Japanese Encephalitis?

It is caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV).

Japanese encephalitis is a mosquito-borne disease caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), the virus belongs to the same genus as the West Nile virus, yellow fever, and dengue. The disease occurs mainly in the rural and agricultural areas of Asia and the Western Pacific Region.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates nearly 68,000 cases occur globally.
