Curam is an antibiotic medication belonging to the extended-spectrum penicillin family that contains a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that kills bacteria in the body, while clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that counteracts the enzyme (beta-lactamase) produced by penicillin-resistant bacteria. 

The drug is usually formulated in a fixed ratio of amoxicillin to clavulanic acid and is produced through a specific synthesis process that combines these two active ingredients.

Usage

What is Curam used for? 

Curam is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including but not limited to: 

• Sinusitis 
• Pneumonia 
• Ear infections (otitis media) 
• Bronchitis 
• Urinary tract infections 
• Skin infections 

How do you use Curam? 

Availability:

Curam is available in various forms, including tablets, chewable tablets, and oral suspension.

Dosage information: 

• Dosage is computed based on the amoxicillin content of Curam 

• • Adults and children weighing more than 40 kg: The standard dosage is 250-500 mg of amoxicillin every 8 hours or 500-875 mg every 12 hours, depending on the severity of the infection. 
  • Children under 40 kg: Dosage is based on the child's weight, usually 20-40 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours, or 25-45 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 12 hours. 
  • Infants: The oral suspension can be used for infants, dosage depending on the child's weight and doctor's prescription. 

Suitability: 

• Children: Suitable, with pediatric dosages available. 
• Adults: Suitable for adults. 
• Elderlies: Suitable for elderly patients, taking into account their renal function. 
• Pregnancy: Consult a healthcare provider; may be used if clearly needed.
