It works by inhibition of a small intestinal brush border transporter effectively reducing the amount of cholesterol absorbed by your body from the intestines. Ezetrol does not belong to the “statin” class of lipid-lowering medications which work on a different pathway. 

Ezetimibe, the active ingredient in Ezetrol, is a synthetic compound. It is structurally different from other classes of lipid-lowering compounds. The medication is formulated as a tablet, which is taken orally.
