What is Maxolon? 

Maxolon is a medication primarily used to treat nausea and vomiting. Its active ingredient is metoclopramide, which works by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain and the gut and increasing gastrointestinal motility. 

Maxolon contains metoclopramide hydrochloride as the active component, which is effective in as gastroprokinetic and antiemetic treatments. 

Metoclopramide is synthetically manufactured and has a benzamide structure, similar to procainamide, with a substituted amino group.

Usage

What is Maxolon used for? 

Maxolon is used for short-term treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), delayed gastric emptying, and prevention of nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy, surgery, or other conditions. 

How do you use Maxolon? 

Availability:

Maxolon is available in tablet form, oral solution, and injectable forms. 

Dosage information: 

• Adults: Typical dose is 10 mg, taken up to 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime, depending on the condition. 
• Children: Dosage is adjusted based on weight and condition. 

Suitability: 

• Children: Yes, but dosage should be carefully adjusted; for use in children one (1) year old and above.

Maxolon interacts with antipsychotic and anti-depressant medications that can increase the side effects of dizziness, drowsiness and confusion and can potentiate the depressant effects of alcohol.
