What is Tetralysal used for? 

Tetralysal is used primarily to treat acne and other skin infections. Additionally, it may be used to treat respiratory tract infections and other bacterial infections as prescribed by a doctor. 


How do you use Tetralysal? 

Availability:

Tetralysal is available in capsule form. 

Dosage information:

  • Adults and Children over 12 years: Typically, one 408 mg capsule once daily. 
  • Children under 12 years: Not recommended. 

Are the following suitable to take the drug: Children, adults, elderlies? 

  • Adults: Suitable for adults and adolescents over 12. 
  • Elderlies: Can be used with caution considering kidney function. 


Is there anyone who can’t take Tetralysal? 

  • Children: Not suitable for children under 12 years. 
  • Adults: With severe liver or kidney disease 
  • Elderlies: With significantly reduced kidney function 
  • Pregnancy and Lactation: Not recommended during pregnancy (the drug readily crosses the placental barrier) and breastfeeding. 
  • Lactation: Should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers (the drug is readily excreted in breast milk) 
  • Allergies: Individuals allergic to tetracycline antibiotics should avoid Tetralysal.
     

Warnings and Precautions:

Should be taken with plenty of water to reduce the risk of esophageal irritation and ulceration. 

Drug and Food/Beverage Interactions

Avoid concurrent use with retinoids or penicillin. Interacts with dairy products and antacids. Accidental ingestion in pregnancy may cause discoloration of the teeth and and enamel hypoplasia (underdevelopment). 

Side Effects

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach upset. Severe reactions can include allergic reactions, photosensitivity, and severe gastrointestinal symptoms.
