How Is Rubella Transmitted?

Rubella spreads through droplets from an infected person

Rubella spreads when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and those droplets are breathed in by another person.

Rubella can also spread to an unborn child if the mother is infected.

On average, a person can spread rubella one week before the rash appears to one week after the rash disappears[1].
