Is HPV Curable?

While most sexually active people may become infected with HPV at some point in their lives, the majority of HPV infections typically clear up on their own.

In some cases, HPV can cause further health problems such as genital warts or cancer.

Cancers can develop include vagina, penis, or anus cancers, but in particular cervical cancer. For women with healthy immune systems, cervical cancer can develop within 15-20 years after exposure to the virus, and for those with weakened immune systems, cancer can develop within 5-10 years.
