Voltaren is a brand name for chemically synthesized diclofenac sodium or diclofenac potassium salts. These salts are used to create various formulations of the drug. 

Global Name

The generic name for Voltaren is diclofenac. Several similar brands include Voren, Voltarol, Solaraze, and Pennsaid. 


Usage

What is Voltaren used for? 

Voltaren is used to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and improve the mobility in conditions such as: 

  • Osteoarthritis 
  • Rheumatoid arthritis 
  • Ankylosing spondylitis 
  • Menstrual cramps 
  • Migraines 
  • Other types of acute pain

How do you use Voltaren 100mg?  

Availability:

Voltaren is available in a variety of forms including gel, cream, tablets, and injectable solutions.

Dosage information:

  • Tablets: 50 mg to 100 mg a day in divided doses for adults, depending on the severity of the condition. 75 mg and 100 mg sustained-release formulations are usually prescribed for once daily use.  
  • Gel: Apply 2-4 times daily on the affected area, as per the severity. 
  • Injection: Administered by healthcare professionals only. 

Suitability: 

  • Children: Not recommended for children under 14 years unless prescribed. 
  • Adults: Yes, unless suffered from conditions mentioned below.
